Buried-April 08,2011 Lot-358 Section-E Space-01 Evelyn McNeel Bodenhamer Dec 28,1919-April 4,2011 Evelyn McNeel Bodenhamer 91, of Hershey, passed away April 4, 2011. She was born to Donald McNeel and Avis Cary McNeel on Dec. 28, 1919, at the George Cary farm, three miles west of Hershey at O'Fallon's. She grew up in Lincoln and Keith counties. She moved to Keystone with her parents when she was 9 years old. She attended Keystone Grade School, and graduated from Keystone High School in 1937. Evelyn moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1941 and she worked in the payroll office for the Morrison Knudsen Construction Company until the end of World War II. She married R. E. (Jiggs) Bodenhamer on June 12, 1943, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, in Wickford, R.I. on Marragansett Bay. Due to Jiggs serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he and Evelyn were able to start their married life on a permanent basis when World War II ended. She grew up during the Depression years and knew the hardship of the farm life. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She has lived the past 57 years on a farm northwest of Hershey that she and Jiggs originally rented and then purchased the current farm site in 1955. Her husband Jiggs, preceded her in death, in 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother; sister-in-law; and a nephew. Mass of the Christian Burial will be April 8, 2011, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland. Burial will follow at the North Platte Cemetery. North Platte Telegraph, April 5,2011
