Bio
The last of seven known children born to Philemon Dorsey Jr and Anne Dorsey Dorsey of Anne Arundel Co MD, Catherine married George Gardner on 28 Dec 1808 in Baltimore Co MD. Known Children with George: 1) Julia Ann Gardner (1811-1881) 2) George D Gardner Jr (1813-1896) 3) Isaiah Gardner (1814-1881) 4) Elizabeth Gardner (1816-1883) 5) Milcah Gardner (1817-1895), m: Andrew Jackson Hanks. 6) Rachel Gardner (1819-1898), m: John Robison. 7) Jacob Gardner (1821-1881) 8) James Quincy Gardner (1825-1865) 9) Joshua Gardner (1827-1863) 10) Mary Ellen Gardner (1833-1887) After Catherine died, her husband George remained in Iowa for a while, but by the 1880 Census he was living in Licking Co OH with his daughter Rachel and her husband John Robison. On 8 Oct 1881 family and friends celebrated George's 94th birthday at the home of Reverend and Mrs. James R Reid (George's granddaughter Melissa Jane). George lived with Rachel's family until his death at aged 97 years and is buried in Licking Co OH. So many thanks to Mo and Dave Gates for finding her tombstone and posting a picture.
