Bio
Ida Dunbar was the daughter of Virginia Jane Stephenson and David Dunbar. She was born in Barnesville, Lawrence County, Tennessee. Her mother died in July, 1901 and she was sent to live with a family in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. My research indicates that the family name was Black. There is no record that her name was changed, In addition, the mariage certificate for her marriage to Thomas Perkins Grimes gave her name as Ida Dunbar. These were my grandmother and grandfather.
