THE HIGHLANDER NEWS OCTOBER 12, 2007 Edith Hanes Edith Hanes passed away Oct. 5 in Llano, Texas, at the age of 93. She was born on July 11, 1913 to Winnie and Marion Elwood Hensley in Jardin, Texas. Edith was a member of the Llano Church of Christ and had resided in Llano for the past 10 years, but spent most of her life in Dallas. She was married to Weldon Bailey Hanes on Sept. 25, 1932 in Jardin, who preceded her in death Nov. 1994. Edith is also preceeded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Cathy Merrill; and three sisters. Survivors include daughters Glenda Merrill and husband Jack of Llano, Judith Wilson and husband Sam of Desoto, Texas; sons, Larry Hanes and wife Jeanne of Arlington, VA, Weldon Brooks Hanes and wife Janice of Hillsboro, Texas, Michael Hanes and wife Joyce of Fredericksburg, Texas, Philip Hanes and wife Carol of Martinez, Georgia, and David Hanes of Lancaster, Texas; sister, Francis Mitchem of Huntsville, Alabama; brothers, Albert Hensley of Baldwinsville, New York and George Hensley of Indio, California; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held on Oct. 10 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home Chapel in Llano with Bro. Lester Bagley officiating. Burial will follow on Oct. 11 at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas with Bro. Hardeman Nichols officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sunny Glen Children's Homes, P.O. Box 1373, San Benito, Texas, 78586. Arrangements are under the direction of Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Homes, Inc.
