Bobby Slama, 66, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011 in the VA Hospital of Dallas. Bobby was born on, May 10, 1944 to Willie and Syble Slama in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in Oak Cliff and attended school there. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War for three years and attained the rank of Sergeant and was a sharp shooter for the Army. Bobby worked as manager of The Lionbackers store for over twenty years and was a co-owner of the Stable Club for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Ennis. He is survived by one son, Jeff Slama and his wife, Birdie of Mesquite; one daughter, Kimberly Slama of Mesquite; three grandchildren; one brother, Ricki Slama and his wife, Debbie of Ennis along with two sisters; Retta and her husband, Joe Halbrook and Neena and her husband, Wayne Weston. He is preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services will take place on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. in the DFW National Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary.
