Bio

Susie Daphne was born to Joseph George Christian and Susanna Louise (McGowan) Brock. She was raised by her father when her mother died in the 1918 Flu Epedemic.Her Mother is buried in the Mabank Cemetery, Henderson County, and her father is buried in the Iola Cemetery,Grimes County, Texas. Susie had one half brother, Joseph Elisha McGowan, and two brothers, Olaf and Richard Christian. Susie Daphne married James D. Smoot Nov. 1932 , they had three children, Barbara Ann, Born June 1933, Mattie Sue Born 1935, and Major Darvel Born 1937. She married a second time to Leland H. Smith.
