Samuel Judson Poteet, Son of Robert Lee and Oma Celeste Joiner Poteet. Husband of Jean Mae Osborne Poteet RISING STAR - Samuel Judson Poteet, 92, of Fairfield, Calif., died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, in a nursing home. Graveside services are 2 p.m. today in the Sipe Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Poteet officiating, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home. Mr. Poteet was born in Sipe Springs. He married Jean Mae Osborne in 1935. He worked as a driller in the oil fields for nearly 50 years and lived in California for the past four years, moving there from Bedford. He was an Episcopalian. Survivors include two sons, Lee Poteet and Judson R. Poteet, both of Fairfield, Calif.; two daughters, Jean Storm of Coppell and Celeste Roberts of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Emma Kyle of Abilene; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will be at the funeral home at 1 p.m. today to receive friends before the service. (ABILENE REPORTER NEWS SUN. 8-6-2000)
