"REBURIAL RITES HELD WEDNESDAY FOR A. C. DEASON" "Funeral services for Sgt. Alvin Carl Deason, who was killed June 25, 1944, while serving with the armed forces in the South Pacific, stationed in Burma, were held at 2:30 pm Wednesday at Hixon's Chapel with Rev. Farley Green and Rev. Blanchard Clark officiating. Milirary services were conducted at the graveside in Lewis cemetery, near Ikes, by Cole-Miers Post VFW, with Tommie Chelette in charge and I. H. Dial serving as chaplain. Sgt Wallace Cooley was officer of the day and Sam Governale and George Pernici were color bearers. The firing squad with Robert Hernandez in charge, consisted of Blair Nichols, Pete Venturella, Homer Perkins, Othar Scott, Charles Viola and A. Wisby. Sergeant was raised in DeRidder and was a member of the First Baptist church. He served ten months overseas in World War II. Survivors are his parents, Mr and Mrs. J. H. Deason of DeRidder, four brother; Ivy Deason, Oklahoma City, Okla., Oscar Deason, of San Bernardino, Calif., Ernest D. Deason, DeRidder and one sister, Mrs. Ernest Ryan of Reeves, La."
