Rosie Sylvia Bartel, age 80, passed away, Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the Homestead Nursing Home in Collinsville, TX. Rosie was born December 31, 1930 in Georgetown, TX to Frank and Katherine Skrhak Sherek. She married Joe Bartel in Pilot Point on November 3, 1951. She worked for 20 years at Sundial Nursing Home. Rosary will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Huff/Slay Chapel in Pilot Point at 7pm with visitation ending at 8:30pm.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at St. Thomas Catholic Church at 10am with Father Flynn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Pilot Point. Pallbearers are Lauren Tinney, Heather Bartel, Jordan Bartel, Micah Bartel, Kristal Landers, Kristopher Brooks, Mariah Switzer, Abigail Switzer; honorary pallbearers are Kaitlynn Landers, Lila Tinney, and Jude Bartel. Rosie is survived by one son, Larry and wife Karen Bartel of Sherman; two daughters, Sherry and husband Bobby May, and Theresa and husband Kevin Switzer all of Tioga; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Daniel and wife Mary Jane Sherek of Oklahoma; three sisters, Mary Tepera of Rogers, TX, Martha Bell of Celina, and Bessie and husband Bud Riney of Pilot Point; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Joe in 1994; four brothers, Joe, Rudy, Emil and Henry Sherek; and one sister Jimmie Simmel. Services are under the direction of Huff/Slay Funeral Home.
