Maxine Duffield Burr, 79, Neosho, died at 8:10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at a Neosho nursing home, following an illness. Mrs. Burr was born Dec. 27, 1923, to Arthur and Cecile Thomason Duffield. She was born at the family farm near Stella in McDonald County and graduated from Stella High School. Mrs. Burr worked with her husband in the family business and always supported him in his work. She was employed at Rocketdyne in Neosho for many years and was a devoted mother. She was a member of the Northside Baptist Church. She enjoyed her work with the young married couples department and the youth of Northside. She was also active with sports and World Ministries as they brought Christ oriented programs and films to Neosho and to area schools. She married George M. Burr on July 16, 1941 at Neosho and he prededed her in death on May 30, 2000. She is survived by her daughter and husband, Carolyn and Bill Hulsey, Neosho; three grandchildren, Caroline Smith, Ft. Smith, Ark, Heath Hulsey, Kansas City, Mo., and Courtney Hulsey, Raleigh, N.C.; one great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Smith; and a sister, Geraldine Sanders, Stella. She was prededed in death by a brother, Norman Duffield. Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Swagerty and the Rev. Tom Casady officiating. Burial will be in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery and pallbearers will be Rick Frankey, Steve Kelly, Bud Powell, Keith Schneider, Tim Heiskell and Mark Branscum. Honorary pallbearers will be Dallas Kelly and Joe Manz. Arrangements under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
