Obituary. After an abundant life, Lorraine Walker Swensen Boyer, 96, died peacefully at home, attended by family, on March 15, 2011. She was born September 19, 1914, the third child of Ezra James and Elsie Walker Swensen. She grew up on the family farm in Manila, north of Pleasant Grove, in what she considered the best family and environment. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and attended Brigham Young University, where she excelled in athletics and art. There, she met the charming D. Roy Boyer, whom she married on February 5, 1938. They were sealed to each other and their children on October 5, 1977, in the Provo Temple. Lorraine enjoyed her home in Pleasant Grove for 59 years, where she nurtured family and friends with her excellent cooking and gracious manner. This amazing woman held a deep appreciation for life and the world around her. She enjoyed gardening, reading, golfing, traveling, arranging flowers, or playing Rook, and did everything with flair. She was an active member of the LDS Manila 1st Ward and had a sure testimony of the restored gospel. Her greatest joy was her family, and she leaves them an indelible legacy by her example of optimism and humor. Survivors include her seven children Kent D. (Carol, div.), Mac D. (JoAnn), Jerry K. (Ann), Stanford J. (Roxanna), Lois L. (Robert) Howard, Russell E. (Renae), and Mark C. (Virginia); 49 Grandchildren, 104 Great-grandchildren, 1 Great-great grandchild; Siblings Knud (Shirley) Swensen, James B. (Carol) Swensen, M. Dee (Marilyn) Swensen. Her husband Roy, great-great-grandchild Brylee, and siblings Blaine, Mildred, Laura, Leland, Chastina, Boyd, and John preceded her in death. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 25, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Grove Manila Stake Center, located north of Mt. Timpanogos Temple. Family and Friends may visit Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, and at the church Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
