Bio

Mrs. Cecelia L. Kucera, 97, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, in El Paso. She was born Dec. 9, 1906 in Alma, the daughter of Claud and Elizabeth Lindle. She was a graduate of Ennis High school and continued her education at Denton Teachers College and San Marcos College to fulfill her dreams of becoming a teacher. Upon graduation she taught grade 1-6 in a one room school house and met Willie Kucera, her loving husband of 69 years. Together they traveled world-wide and she taught school wherever they were stationed in the Army. After the end of World War II, she started the first American school in Italy. El Paso, TX was the last duty station and has been home since 1957. She was an active member of the following organizations: Catholic Daughter of America, ladies of Charity, perpetual member of the Military Order of World Wars, Polish American Club, Italian American Club, past member of Ysleta Woman's Club, past member of the Lower Valley Woman's Club, honorary member of New Camera Club of El Paso, El Paso Knitting Group, member of her beloved Bridge Group – "Wild Ones" and Christmas Street. She is survived by her husband, Willie, of El Paso and several nieces and nephews. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday in the Keever Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Johns Catholic Church with Rev. Fred Caldwell as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Josephs Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Married Willie J. Kucera July 13, 1935.
