Bio

Stanley Joseph Friedel, age 78, passed away on March 18, 2011. He was born in Yoakum on March 15, 1933 to Otto and Emma Peters Friedel. He was a veteran of the Korean War, retired from Union Carbide after 36 years, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Survived by wife of 53 years, Georgie Lee, daughters, Pam Pfeil (William), Jennifer Talley (Darrell), son Ron Friedel, and sister Eileen Pechacek. Grandchildren: Clayton Pfeil and fiancé Jessica Vaught, Aubrie Pfeil and fiancé Cody Shugart, Shane Pfeil, Step-granddaughter Stacey Grass (Rob). Great-grandchildren: Jaiden Pfeil, Ashlyn Grass and Wyatt Grass. Preceded in death by parents, sisters Dorothy Bellville and Leona Chilek. Visitation will be at Colonial Funeral Home on March 20, 2011 at 6:00 p.m., followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be March 21, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, presided by Fr. Greg Korenek with burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council. Pallbearers: Glen Chilek, Randy Pechacek, Tommy Chilek, Michael Chilek, Bruce Chilek and Patrick Kocian. Honorary Pallbearers: Carleen and Stan Heinold, Sheri and Roland Beausoleil, Debbie Kocian, Kathy Chilek, Abbie Chilek, Patsy Chilek, Sandra Chilek, Revis Abshire, Otto Bleier, Kenneth Bludau, Jim Gault, Toby Ohrt, Dan Respondek, and George Wenzel. Special thanks for the loving care given by Dr. Mark Stevens, Dr. Dakshesh-Kumar Parikh, Dr. Yong Du and associates, and the staffs of DeTar 4 East and Crown Hospice. Memorials can be made to St. Joseph High School Endowed Scholarship Fund or Knights of Columbus Council 9088 Seminary Burse or charity of your choice.
