Son of Wallace Otis Dalrymple and Margaret Ellen Conner. Husband of Kate Elva Hamaker. James and Kate were married June 15, 1895 in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri. They were the parents of eight children: Gwendolyn Dalrymple Wells, Keith Herriott Dalrymple, Virgil Hamaker Dalrymple, Beryl Wilmot Dalrymple, Cleo Kenneth Dalrymple, Doris Deane Dalrymple Achzigler, Donald Isaac Dalrymple, and Woodson Malcolm Dalrymple.
