Amarillo, Texas - Lou M. Smith, 87, died at 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003 at the Beehive Cottage in Amarillo, Texas. She was born to Jess and Lena Angelina (Walford) Wright on June 4, 1916 in Dade County, Mo. Mrs. Smith grew up in Golden City and graduated from Golden City High School. She then went to beauty school in Springfield and after that traveled extensively. She was a hair stylist and state inspector for the Missouri Cosmetologist Board for 20 years. She also worked for a New York corporation that set up beauty shops in department stores throughout the country. She married Aubrey Smith in New Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1982. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Golden City. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Aubrey, her brothers Jim and Ivan Wright, and her sisters, Pearl McCoy, Bernice Heath, Kate Smith, and Esther Taylor. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Dudenville Cemetery, south of Golden City, Mo., the Rev. John Steele will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jim Heath, Bud Heath, Bill Heath, John Heath, Bill Wright, Jr. Taylor, and Gaylord Smith. Visitation will be 1 - 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Pugh Funeral Home, Golden City, Mo. Research and memorial graciously provided by Doris Snyder (#47280500) ------
