LeRoy Charles Beshaler, 81, of Callaway, Nebraska, died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at the Callaway District Hospital. LeRoy was the beloved son of Charles & Della (Hickenbottom) Beshaler. LeRoy graduated from Callaway High School in 1948 and worked with his father on the Beshaler farm. He enlisted into the United States Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was in the 3rd platoon Company "D" 634th Armored Infantry Division. Following his time in the Army LeRoy moved back to Callaway and worked with his father on the farm. LeRoy was united in marriage to Lucille Woodward on February 2, 1955 in Kearney, Nebraska. One daughter was born to this union: Beverly. The family settled on the farm and LeRoy would run the family farm. LeRoy absolutely loved baseball. He was a very good baseball player in is younger years and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves. LeRoy coached a Callaway girls softball team to a championship and enjoyed working with the girls and was very proud of them. He was also an avid Nebraska Cornhusker football fan. When LeRoy was not working on the farm he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and playing cards. He was a member of the American Legion, Seven Valley's Rodeo Association, Callaway Golf Club and Callaway United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife: Lucille Beshaler of Callaway, Nebraska One daughter: Beverly Beshaler of Fairbanks, Alaska Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Callaway United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Gillming officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway. Visitation will be one hour before services.
