Bio

Birdie lived in Donna Texas most of her life. Her first husband Jesse Johnson Hooks died in 1920. She was married to James O. Stephens in about 1940. They sold insurance in and around the town of Donna for many years and together they operated a hamburger stand out on South Padre Island when the only way out there was by "Cap Sullivan's boat". She was the sister-in-law to Donna Fletcher Hooks the namesake of Donna Texas.
