Alford D. Murray, age 84, of Palestine, Texas died March 7, 2011 at Palestine Regional Medical Center. Burial at Land of Memory Cemetery is under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory Funeral Home. He was born June 29, 1926, in Corsicana, Texas to the late William and Mary E. Murray. He served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Willie Jo Murray, on Jan. 7, 2011. Mr. Murray is survived by children, Glenda Shields and husband Freddie, Brenda Fontenot, Bill Murray and wife Suzette, and Randy Murray and wife Sue; grandchildren, Rhonda Abbott, Shane Shields, Kimberley Cross, Tammy Scroggins, David Kearns, Summer Murray, Lisa See, Lori Morrow, Lynn Goolsby, and Heather Messer; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
