Mrs. Hillman's headstone gives her death date as July 3, 2007. However, it evidently is wrong as both her SSDI record and obituary give the date shown above.
Riser Funeral Home Columbia, LA Services for Mable Philley Hillman, age 74 of Grayson will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, July 3, 2007 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Jim Goodman and Rev. Keith Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery west of Clarks. Mrs. Hillman was born in West Carroll Parish on June 21, 1933 to the union of Tobe and Ollie Lee Smith Philley and died Monday, July 2, 2007 at her residence in Grayson. She was a retired schoolbus driver with the Caldwell Parish School System and a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church. She owned a quilt shop and loved to make homemade quilts. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters: Margaret Owens of Fresno, TX and Helen Young of Monroe. Survivors include her husband: Gaines R. Hillman, her son and daughter-in-law: Mickey and Mary Lou Hillman all of Grayson, her grandchildren: Thomas M. Hillman of Grayson and Renee Hillman Ellerbe and her husband: James Colby of Columbia, her great-grandchildren: Samuel Cole Ellerbe and Haley Nicole Ellerbe of Columbia, her sisters: George Ann Curtis of Prescott, AR and Frances Markley of St. Louis, MO and her brother: Donald Ray Philley of Epps, LA. She had a host of beloved brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Terry Pauley, Tracy Pauley, Jimmie Busby, Gordon Frasier, Kevin Thompson and Larry Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Pardue, Elbert Pauley and John Reitzell.
