Gilbert E. Rodgers son of Willie Earl and Clara (Hoyo) Rodgers.Gilbert E. Rodgers married Dorothy Vacek on December 26,1942. Children are: John Rodgers Luke Rodgers Paul Rodgers Ann Toppel 10 Grandchildren Doc was a retired owner-manager of Western Auto Assoc. Store,his occupation for 32 years.Before moving to Weimar in 1936,he lived in Willow Springs,Oak Grove and Glidden.After graduating from Weimar High School in 1940,he enrolled in Landig College of Mortuary Science & Embalming School at Houston,receiving his license as a mortician. He was in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945,serving as a surgical technician at Aloe Field in Victoria.Doc,was a member of the knights of Columbus and the American Legion and was a past commander of the Legion post. Mr.Rodgers passed away Tuesday at 6:28 p.m. in Colorado-Fayette Medical Center,after a short illness. Funeral services were held for Gilbert E. Rodgers,70,Friday January 4,1991 from St.Michael Catholic Church with Father John Bily officiating,assisted by Deacon Joey Targac. Pallbearers were John Hoyo Jr.,David Rodgers,Ron Rodgers,Brad Lampkin,Jerry Landers and Marshall Toppel.
