Bio
Sylvester J. Schmitt was born March 27, 1915 in Frelsburg,TX to Adam and Josephine (Blanchard) Schmitt. He married Alma Zapalac in Fayetteville, TX.. Mr. Schmitt was the City Manager for the City of Fayetteville serving in that capacity for 50 years. He died in La Grange, TX at the age of 93 years, 4 months, and 7 days. Mr. Schmitt was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jo Ann; son, Donnie; sister, Janetta Heinsohn; and brother, Elmo, Edwin, and Leroy. He is survived by his loving wife, Alma Schmitt; daughters, Genelle Wied and husband Wayne, Charlene Bertsch and husband Melvin, Diane Janish and husband Joe, all of Fayetteville,TX.; sons, Earl Schmitt and wife Alice, Sylvester Schmitt, Jr. and wife Delores, Jerry Schmitt, Jimmie Schmitt and wife Gladys, all of Fayetteville,TX., 13 Grandchildren, and 22 Great-Grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Schmitt, Brian Schmitt, Kevin Bertsch, James Korenek, Ken Wied, Joseph Janish. (Koenig & Strickland)
