Billy Joe Wells, 81, of North Zulch passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 in Temple. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM Friday, March 4th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Willowhole Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 PM Thursday, March 3rd at Day Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary at 7 PM. Billy was born February 24, 1930 in Cleveland, Texas to Henry Floyd and Gertie (Colwell) Wells. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Isabelle (Armstrong) Wells; brother, M.H. Wells and sister, Anna Mae Read. Billy served his country in The Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. He then went to work for KPRC in Houston where he was employed for over forty years. Upon his retirement, Billy became active with the VFW Post 1907. He was a member of the "Potlickers" which is a local BBQ cooking team and was a proud member of what is known as the "Barn Crew" which consisted of friends and neighbors who got together on a regular basis to eat and enjoy playing dominoes and cards. Most of all; he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Survivors include his children, Paul Ray Wells, Phil Lynn Wells, Marianne Shelton, Marlene (Leroy) Zografos and husband, Dino, and Mary Jo Stavinoha and husband, Rusty; grandchildren, Sami Jo Shelton Brown, Cody Shelton, Travis Shelton, Jessica Rushing, Bill Wells, Phil Wells, Jr., Kelly Wells, Anthony Wells, Alexandra Isabelle Zografos, Mitch Zografos, Meagan Stavinoha and Emma Stavinoha; and great grandchildren, Micah Rushing, Ella Rushing, Payton Wells, Kylie Wells, Gannon Brown and Cutter Brown.
