Kurt Fuessel officiating. Interment will follow at Davidson Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Willie Marie was born in Pancake, Texas, to the late Thomas Pinkney Sharp and Lena Orine Pancake Sharp. Willie Marie was known by all of her friends as "Bill." She was one of four children, having two brothers and a sister. The children were orphaned when their mother died in 1926 and their father died in 1936. During the rest of their childhood and until they became of age, they lived with various aunts and uncles. Aunt Laura was her main caregiver, and she was like a second mother to Bill. At the age of 11, the rock boundaries of her playhouse were attacked by a handsome 12 year old boy named Stephen Maxwell. Little did she know that only a few years later, when she was a teenager that she would meet up with this young man again at a carnival while with a group of friends. Later in the relationship, as Bill would tell the story, she was sitting on her porch with a rival suitor of Steve's when he drove up and asked, "Are you going with me?" It didn't take her but a second to jump off the porch and ride off with Steve. This decision helped determine her path in life. Steve and Bill were married on October 13, 1942. They shared 62 happy years together. She was a homemaker but did work outside the home too. She worked a several local businesses. After retiring, she and Steve did a little traveling. They mainly enjoyed going dancing on Saturday night with friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Stephen Maxwell; a daughter, Barbara Louise Maxwell Roach; a grandson, Ronald Stephen Maxwell, Jr.; sister, Lillie Mae Sharp Poe; brothers, William P. Sharp and Dalton G. Sharp; and aunt, Laura Sharp. Bill is survived by daughter, Carolyn Marie Maxwell-Sims and husband, James "Babe", of Weatherford; sons, Ronnie Stephen Maxwell and wife, Sara, and Daryl Maxwell and wife, Debbie, all of Gatesville; grandchildren, Andrea Roach Marshall and husband, Jerry, John Paul Sims and wife, Shannon, Brandon Roach and wife, Anne Marie, Misti Maxwell Morro and husband, Kevin, Stacia Sims, Michael Maxwell and wife, Emily, Lori Maxwell McLaughlin and husband, Brent, and Kyle Maxwell and wife, Kristine; and great-grandchildren, Lundyn Marshall, Chase Marshall, Maxwell Marshall, McCain Marshall, Gable Roach, Braden Sims, Brice Sims, Carley Sims, Garrett Jones, Quinlan Jones, Camden Morra, Preston Sims, Sophia Maxwell, McKenna McLaughlin, and Krisha and Kyler Maxwell; other family members and many friends.
