Bio

R. D. was fatally burned in a truck accident close to Burnett, Texas in 1941. It had been reported that the oilfield truck in which he was riding had a gasoline leak that had not been repaired by the company that owned it. The truck caught fire while R.D. and the driver were on the highway enroute to a job site. In the process of pulling off the highway, the driver lost control of the vehicle and it struck a tree at the side of the road and turned over. R. D. was thrown clear but sustained burns over most of his body. Two other men, Henry Travis Fuller and Horace Arthur Wood were also killed in the accident.
