Obituary Gonzales Inquirer Aug. 16, 1979 Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the First Baptist church of Canyon Lake for James King Thompson, 71, who died in the Nix Hospital in San Antonio, Monday. The Rev. Kenneth King, pastor of the First Baptist church of Canyon Lake will officiate at the services with burial in Carnes Mill cemetery near Canyon Lake. Doeppenschimdt Funeral Home of New Braunfels is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Thompson was born in Indiana on May 25, 1908, the son of Charles W. and Amelia King Thompson. He was owner and operator of an arts and crafts shop in Canyon Lake and a member of that community's Baptist church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eunice Thigpen Thompson; five daughters, Gayle Jane Carnahan of Evansville, Ind., Mary Lee Wyatt of Austin, Barbara Jean Davis of Harwood, Jo Ann Keck of Gonzales, and Alice Faye Hury of San Antonio. Also surviving are two sisters, Georgia Montgomery of Florida, Jo Ann Borden of Indiana; two brothers,Jack of Indiana and Ben Thompsonof Missouri; and 12 grandchildren.
