Darden W. Lilly, 84, passed away Feb. 24, 2011. Survived by his wife, Naomi R. "Nancy" Lilly; children, Carl (Lou) Lilly of Westminster, Colo., Carolyn (Michael) Griggs of Canon City, Bonnie (Donnie) Gross of Albuquerque, N.M. and Bruce (Carl) Lilly of Denver; son-in-law, John (Dory) Ryskamp of Hawaii; grandchildren, Christina Lilly, Andy Griggs, Nicole McFarland, Lynzee Griggs, Dan Ryskamp, Jordan Gross, Janelle Hodgkinson, Jarett Gross, Grant Griggs, Cole Reuter, Sarah and Julia Naumes; great-grandson, Jacob Lilly; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his daughter, Carrie Ryskamp; and brothers, James, O'Neal and Howard (Betty) Lilly. Darden was born to Hoyt and Linnie Lilly on Dec. 31, 1926, in Bug Tussle, Texas. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Retired from Alpha Beta Packing as an accountant after 34 years of service. Darden was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a treasurer and deacon, and recently became a member of First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed dominos, cards, scrabble and other games. Most importantly, Darden was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Viewing from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Service, 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in the Montgomery & Steward Chapel with the Rev. Clint Perry officiating. Military honors and interment, 11:15 a.m. Wednesday at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver. In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to a charity of your choice.
