He was married to Lois Virginis Dennison (ca 1892- ), and he was a US Army veteran of World War I. The Superintendent of Prison Industries for the State of Tennessee and living at 5004 Idaho Avenue in Nashville, Bert was 57 years old and married when he died of a coronary thrombosis on August 13, 1948 at Saint Thomas Hospital. Burial was the next day in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashville.
