Bio

Myrna Joy Stoddart Jensen returned home to her Heavenly Father on February 18, 2011. Myrna was born July 20, 1935 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was the only daughter of Alton Barnes Stoddart and Vella Dora Lewis Stoddart. Just before her sixteenth birthday, she moved with her step-father, mother, and younger brother to Santa Rosa, California. There, she met her future husband, Donald Alvin Jensen. They were married on December 4, 1953 in Santa Rosa. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. She graduated from Santa Rosa High School and attended Santa Rosa Junior College. When children came along, she felt fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom. At the age of forty, when her youngest child was nine years old, she enrolled at the University of Utah and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. She was elected to Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Kappa. She then continued at the University of Utah and received a second Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish and a certificate to teach English as a Second Language. After graduation, she found a part-time job teaching English as a Second Language at night at Bountiful High School. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching and was a helpful and caring teacher always seeking to meet the needs of each of her students. She taught this class for fourteen years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in the Primary organization for ten years. Her greatest joy and blessing has been her four children: Diane (Carl) Larson, Eric (Judy) Jensen, Craig Jensen, Blayne (Norma) Jensen, and her eleven grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and believed in the saying, "Give your children roots and wings". Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2011 in the Mueller Park Third Ward Chapel, 1825 South 800 East, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, and Saturday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Church prior to the services.
