Bridges, Childress CHILDRESS, Texas - Desmond "Des" Bridges, 75, died Wednesday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Methodist Church with the Rev. Ivan Allen officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery under the direction of Schooler-Gordon Funeral Home. Bridges was born Oct. 7, 1914, in Hopkins County, Texas, and had lived in Childress since 1921. He and Christine Williams were married June 18, 1941, in Childress. He was a master Mason of Blue Lodge No. 695 since 1948. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, First Methodist Church and Volunteer Fire Department. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He was employed by the Childress Water Department for 28 years. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda K. Cook of Grapevine, Texas; two sisters, Bernice Mitchell of Fort Worth and Thelma Jones of San Angelo Texas; and a grandson.
