Bio
Buford Buren Pence, age 90, of Jasper, Texas, passed away on February 22, 2015. He was born on September 26, 1924 in Henrietta, Texas, to Oscar and Nora Mae (Treadway) Pence. On November 3, 1979, Buford married Judy Vaughn in McKinney, Texas. He grew up and around Bonham, Texas and was a painter. Buford was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Judy Pence of Jasper, Texas; daughter, Becky McIlroy and husband Jim of Pilot Point, Texas; son-in-law, Jerry Henderson; stepson, Johnny Holmes; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other loving family and friends. Buford is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Nora Mae Pence; first wife, Opal Marie (McDearmon) Pence; daughter, Carol Henderson; sisters, Evelyn Pence and Nona Mae Lacewell. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
