Services for Florene Carrington, 85, of Lufkin, were held Dec. 12, 2009 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorisl Park. Mrs. Carrington was born Feb. 7, 1924, in Lufkin, Texas to the late Ellie B. (Dorsey) and Tom Short, and died Dec. 10, 2009, in a local hospital. Mrs. Carrington was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She attended the Word of Life Church. Survivors: Husband of 63 years, Travis Carrington of Lufkin Son, Walton Carrington of Etoile, Texas Granddaughters, Analisha Avial of Sugar Land and Christi Burdette of Lufkin Great-grandchildren, Avery and Nicholas Avila, Kevin an Corine Burdett Brother and sister-in-law, Linwood and Dorothy Short of Lufkin Numberous nieces, nephews and other relatives In addition to her parent, Mrs. Carrington was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Keith Carrington; and five sisters.
