Bio

Son of Benjamin Witham and Jane Willson. Husband of Martha Ann Tinkham. Jasper and his brother, George Washington Withem, both enlisted in the Union Army during the Civil War on August 19, 1861 in Athens County Ohio. They were both in Co. C, 18th Regiment, Ohio Infantry. He was wounded in the thigh in the battle of Stones River of December 25, 1862. He was discharged from the army on October 9, 1865 at Augusta, Georgia. His wife, Martha Ann Tinkham was the sister of his brother's wife, Maria Tinkham.
