Bio

Elsie Katherine Mohrman, the daughter of Louis and Charlotte Siebe Fangmeyer, was born Jan. 31,1904 at Byron. She died Thursday, Oct. 21,1999 at the Blue Valley Home in Hebron at the age of 95. She was baptized Feb. 14, 1904 at St.Peter's Lutheran Church at Byron by Rev. Lompe. She Was confirmed April 7, 1917 at St. John's Lutheran Church at Byron by Rev. G. Schulz. She became a member of Peace Lutheran Church at Deshler in 1932. She attended rural country school until the ninth grade, hi the early 1920s she taught country school. She was united in marriage to John William Mohrman on Jan. 31, 1926 at St. John's Lutheran Church at Byron, by Rev. Lentz. To this union three children, Donald, Norma and Joan were born. The family farmed three miles south of Deshler until 1967 when the couple moved to Deshler. She was a faithful worker for Blue Valley Lutheran Home in Hebron for 20 years. She enjoyed doing needlework, quilting, crossword puzzles and was an excellent cook and enjoyed baking. She was active in the church with ladies aide and bible study and teaching Sunday School. She became a resident of Blue Valley Lutheran Home in Hebron in 1989 due to her failing health. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Charlotte Fangmeyer; her husband John on Jan. 13, 1994; one grandson, Curt Gerber; one son-in-law, Frank Gerber; three brothers. Henry, Louis and Otto Fangmeyer; seven sisters, Emma Paul, Mathilda Rippe, Martha Rippe, Bertha Fintel, Helen Muehling, Clara Renz and Alma Hoops. She is survived by one son, Donald Mohrman and wife Patricia of Leawood, Kan.; two daughters, Norma Gerber of Denver, Colo. and Joan Koons and hus- band Donald of Eugene, Ore.; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Services were held Monday, Oct. 25 at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, with Reverend Phillip Nielsen officiating. Interment was held at Peace Lutheran Cem- etery in Deshler. Organist for the service was Mrs. Julia Pohlmann and the congregation sang "Thine Is The Glory," "He Leadeth Me" and "Joyful, Joyful." Casket bearers were Cary Koons, David Koons, Michael Gerber, Frank M. Gerber, Jr. William Mohrman, Harvey Hoops, Melvin Rippe, Raymond Rippe, Richard Mohrman and Loren Renz. A memorial has been established to Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler. Services were conducted by Deshler Memorial Funeral Home in Deshler. Hebron Journal-Register October 27, 1999.
