Sophia Chumley Pharris of Windland Towers, Nashville, formerly of Harrogate died Oct. 2. She was a native of Claiborne County. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Patterson Chumley. She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Harrogate, past worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and Mother Advisor to the Rainbow Girls. She was a member of New Tazewell First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Freeman Pharris. She is survived by her daughter, Omma Keys; granddaughters, Stacy Lee Keys and Lisa Renee Keys; nieces, Lillian B. Harrell of Nashville and Lou Jean Arrants of Kennesaw, GA. Funeral services were held Oct. 5 with the Rev. J.L. Shaw officiating. Interment was in the Chumley Family Cemetery. Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
