JOE CARL DOWNEY Mr. Joe Downey, 84, passed away on Sept. 23, 2008 in Dallas. He was born on July 24, 1924 in Ft. Worth Texas to Henry Joseph Downey and Mary E. Toal. He was reared in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School. He married Mary Lou Thornhill on April 2, 1948 and they lived in Ennis . He served in the US Navy in WWII until 1946. He was a member of the VFW Post in Ennis. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Downey; one son Joe Carl Downey, Jr. and his wife Pauline of Midlothian. Two daughters, Martha Anderson and her husband John of Ennis ; Donna and her husband Tom Forney of West Chester Ohio. Numerous Grandchildren; great-grandchildren & nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jack and Henry Downey; and one sister, Evelyn Stovall. Graveside services were held on Sunday, September 28th at 2 p.m. in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of JE Keever Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Senior Adult Pastoral Care Ministry of Tabernacle Baptist Church at 1200 Country Club Rd., Ennis , TX 75119. Ennis Journal October 3, 2008
