Married Jan 27 1880 Farwell, Howard, NE; 11 children, 4 dying in infancy States 7 of 9 children alive in 1900 ---------------------------------------------- Aged Ashton Woman Died Saturday Mrs. Frances Zocholl of Ashton passed away at her home Saturday. December 21, after an illness of three weeks. At the time of her death, she was 84 years and 10 months old. Frances Gorecki was born in Poland on February 21, 1856. She came to America at the age of 22, with her parents, Rosalia and Andrew Gorecki. After one year in Oshkosh, Wis., the family moved to Howard county and settled on a farm near Farwell, Nebr., in the spring of 1879. On January 27, 1880, she was united in marriage to August Zocholl. They made their home on a farm near Paplin until 1910, when they moved to Ashton and resided there until the death of her husband, August Zocholl in 1928. During the past 12 years she had lived at her old home with her son Frank Zocholl and Cecelia Krzycki where she passed away. She lived a very useful life, taking an active part in the pioneer life of Howard county and being a devout member of the Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Of the eleven children born to her and her husband, four died in infancy. Survivors are: four daughters, Sister M. Leona of De Pere, Wis., Cecelia Krzycki, Eleanore Maciejewski and Anastasia Maciejewski all of Ashton; three sons August of Exeter, Joseph of St. Paul and Frank of Ashton and also seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Mount Carmel church at 9:00 o'clock on Tuesday morning, December 24. Rev. Anthony Figlerski had charge of services. Burial was made in the Mt. Carmel cemetery. Pall bearers were: Alex, Steve and Frank Gorecki, F. X. Gorecki, Stanley Tesmer and Victor Prenczek. The Sherman County Times - Dec 25 1940
