CHARLIE STANLEY VITOVSKY Mr. Charlie Stanley Vitovsky, 90, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at the Ennis Regional Medical Center. Rosary was recited Monday in the Keever Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday in St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. Fred Caldwell as celebrant. Interment was in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary. Vitovsky January 28, 1915 ~ February 4, 2005 Mr. Charlie Stanley Vitovsky, 90, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at the Ennis Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 28, 1915 in Ennis, the son of Joe S. and Frances Bobalek Vitovsky. He attended school in Creechville and Ennis High. In 1941 he entered the U.S. Army, serving in the European Theater during World War II. He was a part of the D-Day Invasion and was a POW for 18 months in Germany. His duty was working on the railroad. Hard work with very little food. He knew hunger, weighing only 86 lbs. when he returned to the U.S. Thanks to the American Red Cross for dropping food, not often, but is was deeply appreciated. At the end of the war he was sent to Brooke Army Hospital in San Antonio. He received an Honorable Discharge in Sept. 1945. He returned to Ennis where he worked as a farmer and rancher. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church the VFW and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by sister-in-law, Florence Vitovsky of Ennis; and special friends, Edwin and Joyce Plasek of Ennis, Carolyn Jurik of Ennis, Nancy Jurik and Gray Cavender of Tempe AZ; Kelly and Jeff Falkenbach and children, Kara and Scott of Ennis; David and Cindy Plasek and children, Julia, Kaden and Haven of Ennis. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joe Vitovsky and sister, Emilie Spaniel. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday in the Keever Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Fred Caldwell as celebrant. Interment will be in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E.
