Bio
Gladys Justice Rutherford, 90, of Bastrop and formerly of McDade, died Jan. 29, 2011. She was born on July 31, 1919 in Oklahoma to Herman and Mary Eva (Hickman) Justice. She married William Charles Rutherford on Memorial Day in 1937. She was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Jamie Justice; sister, Louise Carey; and a grandson, Jay Shannon. She is survived by daughters, Jane (Roger) Scanlin and Linda (Gary) Orts, both of Paige, Gale Rutherford of Washington and Charlotte (Dale) Calhoun of Kemah; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Pete Justice of Austin. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Feb. 1 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Pastor Don Davis of the Bastrop Presbyterian Fellowship officiating. Burial will follow in the McDade Cemetery in McDade. Memorials may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society, 22 Battery Street, Suite 512, San Francisco, CA 94111-5520 or the charity of one's choice. Following the committal service at McDade Cemetery, the family would like to invite everyone to join them for a meal at the Paige Community Center located at 117 South Main Street in Paige, Texas.
