Daniel A. Winkler, age 70 of Waco, died April 1, 1998 at his residence. Services were at 10 a.m. April 3 at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Mark Deering officiating. Rosary was recited April 2 at 6 p.m. at Wilkerson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial followed at St. Martin's Cemetery in Tours. Mr. Winkler was born on August 29, 1927 in Tours. He attended schools there and graduated from West High School. He married Doris Sheffield on January 1, 1952 in Waco. He was an employee of the Waco Police Department for 34 years. He was an avid fisherman. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco. Survivors include his wife, Doris Winkler of Waco; two sons, John Winkler and wife Brenda of Salado, and Mark Winkler of Austin; two sisters, Eleanor Dulak and Christine Fryer, both of Waco; one brother, C.W. Winkler of Waco; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation was at Wilkerson-Hatch-Bailey from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. after the rosary. Pallbearers were Henry Schumacher, Milford Jaroszewski, Fehrman Lund, Raymond Rosentreter, O.E. Blythe, Joe Conrad, Wallace Cox and Ernest Dulak. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Mills, Brad Hill, John Able, Russell Martin, Joe Rodriguez and Hannibal Tadlock. Wilkerson-Hatch-Bailey was in charge of arrangements.
