CARLSBAD CURRENT-ARGUS Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico November 29, 1988 THOMAS Services for Bertha Elizabeth Thomas, 88, 608 W. Greene St., are pending at West Funeral Home. She died Nov. 29 at a local health center. She was born Dec. 20, 1890, in Indian Territory, Okla., and was raised and educated in Sharon, Okla. During World War I she attended college in Alva, Okla., where she received her teacher's degree. Later, after moving to Carlsbad, she owned and operated the Rockwood Boarding House. She was a member of the World War I Auxiliary, the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary and ran the hospital snack bar. She was active in the First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Suzanna Sunday School class. Survivors include two sons, Roy W. Thomas, Amarillo, Texas, J.D. Thomas, Houston, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Polly Connally, Carlsbad, Mrs. Louise Rippy, Whittier, Calif.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. THOMAS Services for Bertha Elizabeth Thomas, 88, 608 W. Greene St., are to be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the West Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ed Williamson, First United Methodist Church, is to officiate. Burial will be in Carlsbad Cemetery. Pallbearers include Frank Pfiefer, Bill Patman, Lloyd Sadler, Herb Bindel and Otis Basham.
