Services for Ellis Hardy, 89, of Lufkin, were held Thursday, April 10 in the Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Hardy was born April 4, 1914 in San Augustine to Emma Elizabeth and Benjamin Franklin Hardy and died Tuesday, April 8 at his residence. He worked as an electrician most of his life. He retired in 1977 from Caver Electric after 13 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had resided in Lufkin for more than 50 years. Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by grandson, Eddie Due; sisters, Jessie Mae Green and Maudie Bane; and brother, Perry Hardy. Survivors: wife of 66 years, Myrtle Hardy of Lufkin; daughters and son-in-law, Dorothy and John Due, Lois and Bud Richardson all of Lufkin; grandchildren and spouses, Carmen and Jay Carradine, Richard and Vonda Rhichardson, Sue Ann and Rusten Brockett, Celena Richardson, Johnny and Cindy Due; granddaughter-in-law, Angie Due; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorials may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 116 S. Raguet, Lufkin, TX 75904 Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Directors of Lufkin.
