Willis b.12/16/1820, d. 6/23/1849, who was born in Jones County Ga. and who died in Barnesville, Pike County Ga. in the 29th year of his age"-The Cemeteries of Upson County Georgia +++ For more information see Two Centuries With A Willis Family And Their Kin by Douglas M. Willis, published in 1963: Joel Selman Willis born Dec. 16, 1820; m. ?; died June 23, 1849. He was a Master of Lodge 88 (Punta Lodge, A.F. & A.M.) and his lodge brethren caused this inscription to be placed on his monument. "The sorrows of life are over, The cares and trouble disturb thee no more Thy years are accomplished; thy labor is done, In death has been ended and duty begun, The kind Master has called thee from toiling away, To the light and the rest of immortal day"
