Virgil Vernon Barnhill, 74, of Stephenville passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at his home. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Iredell, with burial to follow at Mitchell Cemetery in Iredell. Rutledge Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Virgil was born May 15, 1936, to Talmadge Perry "T.P." Barnhill and wife, Zora Zong Barnhill. Virgil was a heavy equipment operator for a pipeline company. He served in the U.S. Army and was also a Mason. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Iredell. Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Dee Barnhill; and nephew, Donald Dee Barnhill Jr. Survivors: Virgil is survived by his wife, Marilyn of the family home; son, Dan Barnhill of Ponder; daughters, Debra Burns and husband, Mickey, of Iredell and Kathy Raburn of Granbury; sisters, Laverne Smalley of Iredell and Joyce Kirkland and husband, Tom, of Grand Prairie; brothers, Kenneth Barnhill and wife, Marie, of Iredell and Edwin Barnhill and wife, Sonja, of Burleson; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
