Star Local News Published: Wednesday, January 26, 2011 12:19 AM CST Rex Alan Samuels, 60, of Melissa, TX died January 22, 2011, from a sudden heart attack. He was born May 21, 1950, in McKinney, TX to Charles Homer and Ruby Lee Samuels. He was an electrician by trade for 45 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary Samuels of Melissa, TX; daughter, Trish Pitt and husband, Kerry Nehl; sons, Michael Ellis and Mark Samuels; grandchildren, Lindsy Duncan, Tyler Pitt and Kerra Lee Nehl; sister, Sandra Dinsmore and husband Jackie; brother, Jimmy Samuels and wife Beverly; brother-in-law Billy Ellis and wife Kim; and sisters-in-law, Marie Samuels and Sue Samuels. He was preceded in his death by his parents; and brothers Jackie Ray Samuels, Charles Samuels, Jerry Samuels and Darrell Samuels. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Waddill Street Baptist Church in McKinney with Dr. Woody Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Waddill Street Baptist Church building fund. Per Rex's request, his remains are being cremated by Smith and Sons Funeral Home and will be scattered from his motorcycle along his favorite riding paths.
