Bio
Mr. U.S. Grant Salter, 64 prominent resident of the Atwater community died at his home Saturday night, November 15. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Della Salter; four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Nelson, Mrs. Eva Greathouse, Mrs. Mae Wilmont, Miss Versa Salter; six sons, Noel J., R.E., J.T., Bert, Beverly and Rescoe Salter all of Upson County; five sisters, Mrs. Mattie Royal of Warm Springs, Mrs. R. F. Cochran, of Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Crawford Fallin, Mrs. Cliff Kersey and Mrs. Rufus Rogers all of Upson County; and four brothers, J.B., T.W., H.K. and Isiac Salter, all of Upson County. Funeral services were held at the home Monday at 10:30a.m., with the Rev. Clifford Bradshaw officiating and the Fortner quartette in charge of music. Burial was in the family cemetery with Pasley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Obituary furnished by Thomaston Upson Archives
