Bio

William C. Churchwell, Pvt Co. E, 36 Alabama Infantry. He enlisted CSA 8 Mar 1861 by Captain Cleveland at age 40. He appears on a register of prisoners of war, surrendered May 4, 1865 at Citronelle, AL. Paroled in Mobile, AL May 30, 1865. He signed (His Mark X) a United States Oath of Allegiance in Mobile at that time; copy of the original oath in possession of Stacy E. Churchwell.
