Funeral Services for Leroy "Shorty" Martin 86, of Milan were Thursday-January 20, 2011-10:00 AM at Grace Baptist Church in Milan. Burial followed at the Grants Memorial Park. Pastor Dale Thatcher officiated. Shorty was born on February 3, 1924 in Buffalo, Texas and he passed away on January 14, 2011 in Grants, New Mexico. A longtime resident of Milan, New Mexico. He was a hard worker who loved and cared deeply for his family and friends. Leroy worked for Quivera Mining for 25 years, the City of Grants for 20 years. He did many odd and end jobs. He was a lfe time member of the Tri-State fire convention. He volunteered witht he Milan Fire Department for 20 plus years and volunteered with the Grants Fire Department for abouit 10 years. He will be greatly missed by many. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years: Ova Dee Martin of the family home; Children: Wanda Merriman and husband William of Milan, New Mexico, Debbie Bryan and husband Henry of Grants, New Mexico, David Martin and wife Maria of Milan, New Mexico, John T. Martin and companion Samantha Chaves of Grants, New Mexico; Brother: Frank Martin; sisters: Opel Barnett and Josie Price; 6 Grandchildren, 5 Step Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild and 5 Step Great Grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Esther Martin; Brothers: Dorris Martin, Billy Martin and Cecil Martin.
