James Franklin McLain was born to William Taylor McLain and Mary Ann McDuff in Jasper AL. Walker County. He Married Phoebe Evelyn Miller. James McLain had served in the Confederate Army, joining at age 17, and upon returnig from the war found his family all lost, so he came to Collin county to make a new home. He was a farmer and land ownder and lived in the Kelly Community and in Anna. He was married to Miss Phoebe Miller in Collin County by the Elder R.C.
