Bio
Norma Chrastil, 84, of Lincoln, died peacefully at her home with family at her bedside on January 12, 2011. Mass of Christian burial; Monday, 10:30 a.m., Cathedral of the Risen Christ, 3500 Sheridan Blvd. Visitation with family present; Sunday, 5 to 7 p.m. Rosary; 7:30 p.m., Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street. Burial; Lincoln Memorial Park. Norma was born at the family farm on May 19, 1926 in Emerald to Leonard and Emma (Burianek) Gruntorad. She was raised on a farm near Denton, Nebraska with her younger sister. She graduated from Denton High School and the Lincoln business school. After her schooling, she moved to Lincoln, where she married Edward Chrastil on February 8, 1947 and together they raised four children. She worked as a telephone operator at Lincoln Telephone Company, as a production worker at Ovaltine and Norden Laboratories and retired as a Librarian for the Nebraska Library Commission. After her retirement she volunteered her time at Bryan East Hospital. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her family, cooking, doing puzzles, walking and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Cathedral of the Risen Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward Chrastil and son Randy Chrastil. She is survived by her sister: Evelyn Plachy of Brownsville, Texas. Children: Janet Hartman of Loveland, Colorado; Larry (Jane) Chrastil of Reno, Nevada; Jim (Alicia) Chrastil of Lincoln. Daughter-in-law: Lorie Chrastil of Lincoln. Grandchildren: Jason (Julie) Hartman of Denver, Colorado; David (Stacy) Everson of Cabot, Arkansas; Robert (Kelly) Everson of Wahoo; Aaron (April) Hartman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Elizabeth Chrastil of Lincoln; Brandon Chrastil of North Charleston, South Carolina; Timothy (Sara) Chrastil of Nebraska City; Whitney Chrastil of Lincoln; Nathan Chrastil of Lincoln. Great-Grandchildren: Kaitlyn Everson, Kobe Everson, Austin Hartman, Elise Hartman, Alicia Gubalke, Edward Chrastil. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
