h/o Mayme Jewell Cook - m. 14 Nov 1928 Obituary provided by Kenneth Britton : Corsicana Daily Sun, Monday, May 7, 1973 Smotherman Word was received here over the weekend by Mrs. Rachel Stewart of the death Saturday in Sundown, Texas, of her brother, Jimmie Smotherman, 76, formerly of Corsicana. Funeral services were to be Monday in nearby Levelland with burial to follow in a Lubbock cemetery, but details were unknown to Mrs. Stewart. Smotherman was reared in Navarro County and moved to West Texas several years ago. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Maymie Smotherman, Sundown; one daughter, Mrs. Ann Harding of Denver City, Texas; three grandsons and one granddaughter; five sisters, Mrs. Stewart of Corsicana, whose ill health prevented her attending the funeral; Miss Pearl Smotherman of Houston; Mrs. Allie Deere, Mrs. Ella Jordan and Mrs. Fannie Perry, all of Bellville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
